Many pools throughout the UK are either glassfibre structures or lines with a glassfibre membrane. The disadvantage of this is that over a period of time glassfibre suffers from Osmosis.

This is when an aqueous solution forms within the glassfibre causing the surface to blisters. This make the tank look aesthetically unpleasing with black spots all over it. Eventually the blisters will become so big that they burst and expose sharp fibres which are a danger to bathers. These can be seen on the first photo.
